Author’s Note
“Don’t you want to make it more exciting? Add more dialogue, more twists?”
— a friend asked
I won’t pretend I didn’t think about it.
I wondered if I should add scenes, twist the story, or make it more dramatic — just to match what the market wants. But honestly?
If I’m writing “Based on true events,” then I don’t want to lie.
Not to myself, and not to the reader.
To me, that would feel like betraying both. Maybe it sounds naive.
Maybe even childish — I know the market loves plot twists and high-stakes drama.
But this book?
It’s for the one person out there who’s sitting in silence thinking,
“Maybe I should just walk away. I can’t do this anymore.” If even one person reads my story and thinks:
“I’m not crazy, and I’m not alone,”
then the truth is worth more than any fake scene I could invent. So, yeah — I’ll take the risk of “boring” over being dishonest.
This one is real.
